Alabama Medical Marijuana Licensing
When will Alabama start accepting medical marijuana business license applications?
October 31, 2022. You have to request an application before October 17, 2022. Once you get the application, you have until December 30, 2022, to submit the completed document. Licenses will be given out on June 12, 2023.
What will be in the application?
We'll know for sure once it's released, but we already know a lot of what will be required in the application from the state's regulations, including:
- A quality control and quality assurance plan
- Cybersecurity plan
- Community engagement plan
- Environmental impact statement
- Receiving and shipping plan
- Marketing and advertising plan
- Recall plan
- Security plan
What type of licenses will be available?
Alabama will be limiting the main medical marijuana license types in the following way, at least initially:
- Integrated facility - 5 licenses, with the ability to open 5 dispensary sites each.
- Cultivator - 12 licenses
- Processor - 4 licenses
- Dispensary - 4 licenses, with the ability to open 3 dispensaries each
- Transporter - unlimited
- Testing labs - unlimited
How much is it to submit an application?
The non-refundable fee is $2,500.
